The use of plastic in the agricultural sector, in the first place, has benefited farmers who have been able to increase their production, improve food quality, as well as reduce the ecological footprint of their activities. In fact, plastic has made it possible to offer better quality products than those grown outdoors, as well as allowing the cultivation of fruits and vegetables in any season of the year

The agricultural industry uses a wide range of plastics amongst which we find polyefins such as polyethylene (PE); polypropylene (PP) and ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA) copolymer; polyvinyl chloride (PVC) and, less commonly, polycarbonate (PC) and polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA)

• Reduction in the use of pesticides by keeping crops in closed spaces such as greenhouses

• Improved recycling and recovery – agricultural plastics can be recycled at the end of their useful life by being processed into pellets and used in the manufacture of new items.

• Ensilage
• Irrigators, hoses and containers
• Film for agricultural mulching
• Seedbeds and structural sheets for greenhouses
• Geomembranes

Likewise, resins are also used to manufacture other products such as:

• Stakes, pots and shovels.
• Temporary films.
• Various articles that take advantage of recycled materials in their manufacture without affecting their quality and performance.
